    Description

    Tax Assistants provide support to all levels of practice personnel.  Primary responsibilities include account reconciliations, preparation of sales & use tax returns, property tax returns, business license and other tax returns, maintaining and updating sales & use tax and business license calendars, documenting and timely resolving sales and use and property tax notices, scanning documents into electronic filing system, copying and packaging returns and assisting with document and/or extension preparation.  State and Local Tax Assistants participate in administrative duties and projects as appropriate.

    Knowledge and Skill Requirements

    • Associates Degree (or pursuing) or Accounting Certificate;
    • A good foundation in accounting principles and practices;
    • At least 1 year of previous experience performing account reconciliations;
    • Strong multitasking and organizational skills;
    • Excellent communication skills;
    • Strong interpersonal skills;
    • Ability and willingness to learn and use tax preparation software (i.e. Vertex Returns & PTMS)
    • Proficient use of technology including MS Excel; and
    • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
